This science project showcases how many grams of sugar there are in each drink choice. It’s a scary reality to see how much sugar is lurking in the products many of us ingest daily. Think about what your daily sugar habits are doing not only to your waistline, but think about the fact that it causes inflammation in your body. Sugar raises your insulin levels and is not good for general brain and gut health. While you are getting a reality check on liquids, think about other hidden sources of sugar in your daily diet. Wean yourself off of this highly addictive substance by doing a detox and eat only nutrient dense fresh vegetables, fruits and lean organic, unprocessed meats. Do a clean eating program for a set time period to commit fully to better health.
If you find it difficult to do on your own, find help from a group-supported program, a health coach, doctor or nutritionist. Your body will thank you and you will be the healthier for it! If you are not yet ready to commit to a detox program, begin by tracking the grams of sugar you consume and stay below 30 grams a day for one week. This will be a wake up call of sorts. In the mean time, swap your sugary drink consumption for good old H20. It is a good practice to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water per day. By doing so, along with eating nutrient dense raw veggies, you will flush out the excess sugar as well as the processed foods you were used to consuming.
